
The International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) are merging to form the Global Accreditation Cooperation (GLOBAC), a single international accreditation organization:
Purpose
The merger will simplify and strengthen global accreditation processes. It will bring together IAF’s focus on certification and ILAC’s expertise in laboratory accreditation.
Timeline
The target date for GLOBAC to become operational is January 2026. Until then, IAF and ILAC will maintain normal operations.
Communication
IAF and ILAC have released a communication to provide information on the transition to GLOBAC. This communication addresses topics such as:
- The transition from the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) and ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) to the GLOBAC MRA
- The use of the IAF MLA and ILAC MRA marks
